SEARCHLIGHTS - FLOOD LIGHTS - SPOT LIGHTS - BAT LIGHTS - SKY TRACKERS - BEAM DANCERS
or as the Hollywood lighting industry calls them KLIEG LIGHTS!
Whatever you call them -
Big Sky Searchlight rentals are all truck or trailer mounted and are ready to roll to your special event. Big Sky introduced modern search lights, flood lights, spot lights, klieg lights, sky tracker, beam dancer, or the bat lights to the Chicago Area in 1989. Xenon technology has now carried on the tradition from the older World War II (carbon arc) searchlight units.
World War II (carbon arc) searchlights were built by General Electric and Sperry during the 1940's for use in WWII. The WWII Searchlights were used to spot enemy aircraft trying to bomb bridges and other key targets during the dark of the night. After WWII these searchlights found their way to places like Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, St Louis and other major cities around the USA.
Before WWII these searchlights were used for several special events; one being The Worlds Fair in Chicago in 1933
(you can see these searchlights in Norman Fraser's official 1933 Chicago World's Fair Poster).
Hollywood has carried on the tradition using searchlights for all their gala events; the Golden Globe Awards, Academy Awards, SAG Awards and many more. Chicago's Fox News uses searchlights in their logo.
Promotion in a whole new light! Perfect for any evening event.
